Your hard work makes a big difference in kids lives!

Our Work and Fellowship Camps are heaps of fun, but they also enhance our ministry to the thousands of young lives who visit our campsites every year! Each weekend is an amazing intergenerational service ministry, with young and old contributing however they can.

Come and join a group of generous, hardworking people to help keep our Luther Heights campsite looking as beautiful as ever. Saturday will be spent working together across the campsite, with delicious food offered at every meal and spectacular accommodation for the Friday and Saturday night...and it's all free!

What skills are needed?

Yours! We need a range of skilled and non-skilled people, from tradies, handy-people, keen-but-amateur, families, adults, teenagers and children. We will make sure that we find a job that is perfect for your skills and experience!

What will we be doing?

We have plenty of projects lined up for Work and Fellowship Camp, to suit a range of skill-levels and ages. This year we're predominantly focusing on maintenance, which includes:

gardening
painting
building
concreting
cabinet making
landscaping
demolition
furniture restoration
pressure cleaning

... we even have jobs (and games and fun activities) lined up for the children!

Program

Arrive anytime from 4pm Friday afternoon. A light supper is provided Friday night (you will need to source your own dinner).

Saturday begins early with a delicious breakfast before we get stuck into the day's work. Morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea will be provided throughout the day. At the end of the day we will have a scrumptious shared dinner with cool refreshments for adults, after which you can continue on into the night, playing games, laughing and telling stories.

Wake up to another delicious breakfast on Sunday, and then the rest of the day is yours!

What tools should I bring?

Please bring along any and all tools that you own that may be useful throughout the day. Tools brought on-site will be your responsibility and must be in safe working order.

What are the sleeping arrangements like?

Accommodation at Luther Heights is dorm style (clean, bunk beds). Where possible we can allocate a specific dorm just for families. Keep in mind that this accommodation generally isn’t ideal for children still in cots.

What if I have a special diet?

Please tell us in your registration and we will ensure that we deliver you some beautiful food that meets your needs. We are experts in Gluten Free, Vegetarian, Dairy Free, and Nut Free, and can cover a number of other dietary requirements.

Can I bring children?

Absolutely! We have activities and jobs planned for children at Luther Heights. Please note that children under 18 must be supervised by a parent or guardian - especially if staying on-site overnight.

Can I come for half a day or a few hours?

Yes, if you can let us know approximate arrival times that would be greatly appreciated - particularly if you will be joining in at mealtimes.

Do I HAVE to stay at on-site?

No, you don't have to stay at the campsite overnight. You can find offsite accommodation or return home if you prefer.

Both of our boys loved Explode and both said they would like to come back next year, which is always a great indication of how much they enjoyed their time on camp. For our son, the camp has been a major milestone. The intentional, inclusive, caring, safety promoting nature of the camp culture made the camp a space that brought out his strengths, helped him safely 'stretch' to try new activities / meet new people/ grow in independence / experience success/ feel safe and confident and have fun and feel appreciated -it seems like he felt that he fitted in and that he was valued. Innate in all of this has been his faith experience - of living in Christian community for the camp week, of learning more of and experiencing God in worship and bible study and the experience of sensing the value his home church congregation has for him as he knew he was prayed for / that people had interest in how his week went (at his first Sunday back after camp, so many church folk checked in to see how camp was, what he liked, shared with him that he was remembered in prayer etc - it was beautiful to observe). I went to CLW in 2015 a little scared, knowing a couple of people, but not knowing what the whole thing was like. But getting there I was included straight up by leaders and campers. The atmosphere I could feel was amazing and the connections I shared with others made the experience so much better. I then came back this year, after being so down and feeling like God has forgotten me, I was helped by all to seek him again, and since then I have felt his warming love all around me, and for that I am eternally grateful to CLW.
